    Q. Can I backup emails in IncrediMail and restore to Outlook Express?
    A. No. The backup can be restored only to the same type of Email Client from which it was created. For example, you can't restore to Outlook Express a backup file which was created from Eudora or Incredimail.

    Q. Can I backup email data from Outlook Express on Windows Me and restore it on an Windows XP machine?
    A. Yes. The backups can be restored to any version of windows.

    Q. Can I backup my email data from a network "h" drive?
    A. No, you can't backup e-mail files from network, because Outlook Express Backup Genie needs to look into the windows registry to read the email settings. You must install and run Outlook Express Backup Genie on the computer where you have Outlook installed.

    Q. Where is the backup file that I have just created?
    A. You can specify the filename and path of the backup file just after you select what identities to backup. By default, the backup path is C:\ and the filename will be generated from the name of Email Client and date ( eg. OExpreessBackup 26-1-2003.ebk ).

    Q. When trying to save mail to CD I get an error message : "Could not create new cabinet file [0x0006]". How can I create the backup to CD?
    A. You can't save the backup copy directly to CD. You first have to create the backup file to a local harddrive, and then use your favorite CD burner application to burn it on a CD.

    Q. Does Outlook Express Backup Genie interfere with Norton System Works or Norton Antivirus?
    A. No, Outlook Express Backup Genie should not interfere with any application.

    Q. I get this error message: "this backup is not compatible with selected email client". Why?
    A. This error message occurs when you are trying to restore a backup to an email client different from the one from which the backup was created, for example, creating a backup of IncrediMail and trying to restore to Outlook Express. If you are trying to restore to the same Email Client from which the backup was created, please contact us immediately if you get this error message.

    Q. Outlook Express Backup Genie doesn't accept my license key, why?
    A. You have to enter both your name and the license key exactly as mentioned in the order confirmation email you have received. Please copy and paste the name and key from there, because if you mistype any character the program will not accept it.

    Q. Can this program backup email data in Netscape, or MSN8?
    A. No, not yet. We plan to add this functionality in the future.

    Q. I have problems downloading ( the download breaks before it is completed ), what can I do?
    A. You can use a free download manager utility ( such as Download Accelerator: https://www.downloadaccelerator.com - just an example, there are several good utilities like this on the net! ). If a download breaks, this program will continue the download from where it left instead of from the beginning.

    Q. I have downloaded the software but I can't open it.
    A. This can happen if your download was incomplete. Sometimes windows gets confused and stops the download before is completed; and in these cases the partially downloaded file can't run properly. You need to try downloading again ( and check the size of the downloaded file with the size on our site ) or use a free download manager utility, such as the one mentioned above.

    Q. When I do a restore, it tells me the restore has been succesful, but there is no mail, contacts nor other data when I open Outlook Express
    A. Please before restoring open Outlook Express so that it can initialize some if its internal data; and then close it. Now you should be able to restore just fine.

    Q. Recently it gives me this error: Unable to write to:C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\infobak.ini, or a similar error ( Unable to write to: path\filename.ini )
    A. We have found the cause of this problem and fixed it in version 1.6. Please download the latest version from OEBGenieSetup, uninstall the old version and install the new one. Registered users might need to reenter their License Key.

If you have any problems which are not supported above, please DO send us an email as soon as possible using the Contact Form.
